The reporter learned that the specification is to put forward quality requirements for export tea planting, picking, processing, inspection, monitoring, traceability, product recall and other aspects related to product quality and safety control. Prior to this, my country's tea exports were mainly tested in accordance with the "Tea Hygienic Standards" implemented on October 1, 2006, the relevant requirements of customs import and export inspections, and the relevant standards of the importing country.

It is understood that the standard is divided into 10 parts, and detailed regulations are made for each link of tea from production to export. According to the current situation and characteristics, tea source management has been added, namely tea garden management and primary processing, and products Export early warning and recall system, etc. Previously, my country has formulated nearly 500 national, industry and local standards involving tea, but the lack of specific national or industry standards has led to my country’s tea industry’s insufficient ability to guard against foreign green barriers and participate in international competition, and tea exports have been repeatedly blocked.

Some experts believe that this standard can effectively promote enterprises to regulate tea planting and processing, strengthen product traceability, improve tea quality, and open up foreign markets. At the same time, it will effectively improve the management level of tea gardens in my country, integrate backward and weak tea gardens, and promote the cultivation and export processing of high-quality tea.

According to customs statistics, in the first half of the year, my country exported 151,300 tons of tea, with an export value of nearly 344 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 5.49% and 19.88% year-on-year, respectively. The average unit price was $2.27 per kilogram, an increase of 13.65% over the same period last year. Over the years, my country’s tea industry has developed vigorously. However, most teas are exported to underdeveloped regions such as Africa, Central Asia, and the Commonwealth of Independent States. Most of them are mainly medium and low-grade teas. Some tea industry experts believe that if Chinese tea is to be truly dedicated to the world, it must first solve the problem of standardization. It is reported that my country’s annual tea exports account for 30% of the total output, reaching 200,000 tons, earning nearly US$400 million in foreign exchange. In recent years, with the continuous development of my country's foreign trade, countries around the world have put forward stricter hygiene requirements for my country's tea exports. Since July 1, 2000, the European Union has proposed hundreds of pesticide residue limit standards for imported tea. Japan’s "Positive List System" has stipulated that tea should be tested for nearly 300 pesticide residue limits since May 1, 2006. my country's tea exports have a great influence.

A person in charge of the China Tea Circulation Association said that the new regulations cited common related standards and technical specifications, which played a certain role in regulating tea export enterprises to strengthen quality and safety monitoring, improve their awareness of prevention, and reduce their risks.
